Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Reading, Writing and Arithmetic is not the only type of education a child should get. If our mission is to develop a well-rounded individual, you will also need to educate them in the arts.
The majorities of my students are English Language Learners and are economically disadvantaged.
They are wonderful, enthusiastic and always eager to learn with the most positive attitude I've ever seen in any of my students. Your generous support will give these students an opportunity to explore, discover, unlock and demonstrate their hidden talents and develop a love for music.
My Project
Singing Six Strings is designed to teach the musical elements of rhythm, melody, harmony and tempo. Students will learn chord structures, strumming styles and how they blend together to create songs. In time, students will be able to accompany themselves and others in lyric and song. Singing along will motivate language development for my English Language Learners. It will help them with their fluency, phrasing, intonation, rhyming and word recognition.
Providing opportunities for youth to begin their musical education (at a young age) and develop a love for music can be a priceless gift.
It can create confidence; self esteem and keep kids focused on a positive outlook on life. The chance to be able to perform and express themselves in a positive way can be a life changing experience that will support their love for learning for the rest of their lives. They will be our "guitar heroes".
