My Students

Fourth grade students are immersed in technology! Many have iPods or iphones. They are constantly using this technology to learn and communicate in their everyday lives.

My fourth grade students love learning and developing new skills.

Five years ago our school opened in Louisiana. We are a fast-growing school with eager students that learn in a variety of ways. My students are highly motivated, but I always find it difficult when competing with technology.

My Project

Because some skills are more difficult than others, music provides an easier method to reach all students. After learning the terms and singing them again and again, difficult concepts are easier to grasp and practice. By singing, discussing, and videoing, this continued process allows my students to ponder, apply, and synthesize new terms and ideas inside and outside of my classroom. Then they are able to apply them to their daily lives.

By downloading, playing, and singing songs from a classroom iPod, students will be able to learn difficult terms and apply those to grade-level material.

Singing is a fun and exciting way to learn and apply information to everyday life. Catchy commercials are one way consumers learn about products. In the same way, my techno-students need to connect classroom material in their daily lives! What could be more fun than singing?
