My Students

Because of the budget cuts throughout California schools, we lost our music teacher last year. Another teacher an I have been offering music one day a week to the students in K-3. This has been very difficult because we have to find and buy the music ourselves.

The students at our school work very hard on their academics throughout the school year.

I have found that teaching with music is not only enjoyable for the students, but it is also very educational. I have seen great growth in my 1st graders since I have started having music throughout the day. We have songs for math, reading and science. At the beginning of the year, we started having music for K-3 students. It has helped them to learn cooperation and discipline.

My Project

Having an iPod touch will make it easier for me to have all the music I want at the touch of a finger rather than relying on a disk that skips and gets misplaced. I will also be able to download all the music that I need into one place. With the wireless speakers, I will be able to walk throughout the classroom and not have to go back and forth changing the music. I will be able to start our day with music and end the day the same way. This will help the students transition from one activity without any of us stopping as we do now.

The impact that this project will have on our students at our school is enormous.

My students already look forward to music each day, with this equipment, the whole school will benefit each week when I am able to offer music to them quickly and efficiently.
