My students need a listening center! Our classroom cassette tape/CD player is dated and often gives technical difficulty. It's old!! We need a new boom box, and the 6 headsets provide for a small center activity.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Transitional Kindergarten students enter school at they age of 4 in August & by December all are five. Less than a fourth of the class have been to Preschool. They quickly became a cohesive group, & are always eager to learn! They've learned to share & solve problems with kind words; they're expanding & improving their social-emotional skills which prepare them for the challenges of their ensuing school career; they're becoming prepared for a future as compassionate, caring, & critical-thinking citizens.
My students are attentive learners, engaging in a variety of configurations throughout the day groups to help them achieve academic success.
They have well as through dramatic play and they look forward to coming to school each day! Although our school is located in a low-socioeconomic suburban school, they have so much to offer. 51% are second language learners & families support them by coming to school events & classroom workshops. With 10 boys & 11 girls, we've achieved a nice balance in our class; they've learned that all books, colors, songs, manipulatives & toys are for everyone without gender specificity. Ours is an environment of inclusiveness, support & respect. Every day lends itself to collaboration and teamwork!
My Project
A new boom box is sorely needed. Ours is dated and bulky, making it difficult to transport from our whole group area to the listening center. The 6 headphones will support students as they enjoy listening to stories in the small center.
Children need a listening center in their classroom, and by having a boom box and headphones they can enjoy listening to music or listen to CDs while reading along with our classroom audio library.
Not only will this class be positively impacted, but so will the coming students in the next few years. Headphones allow children to continue learning while quietly engaged with books and music posters. Every moment is a valuable moment, and a listening center is just what we need!
