My students need telescopes, binoculars and more, for our many astronomy night events. They are new to star gazing and easy to use telescopes make the viewings more exciting.
My students need easy-to-use telescopes for our astronomy night experiences. They are new to astronomy and star finding and having these easy-to-use telescopes and binoculars will really help more of our students to have very exciting star finding nights.
Our school is in a rural northeast corner of the state, and we have excellent sites that are available for our star finding nights.
These 200 students are excited to be learning about Astronomy and spending evenings out under the Stars. They are new to telescopes and locating celestial patterns. For most of our students, this will be the only opportunity for them to use telescopes and spend time outside truly examining the sky. We have parents that are very involved with their students education and look for ways to assist their children at school activities.
My Project
The DigiMax telescopes, the Celestron Travel telescopes, & the Celestron binoculars will provide a means for our students to be successful in finding celestial bodies. The students love learning new things & are excited about technology. In our evenings under the stars, the students will be assigned to locate certain constellation patterns & other celestial bodies in the night sky. They will have an opportunity to use traditional telescopes (Celestron Travel Scopes & binoculars) versus the computerized DigiMax-90 Telescopes. This computerized version will show them how technology can help them find more astronomical objects which will enhance their learning experience. This introduction to the Night time sky will spark an interest in space & perhaps lead them toward a career in Space Science. My activities will also involve scientists from our local university & neighboring universities who will assist these evenings & inspire our children to become Lifelong Star Gazers.
A part of my 6th Grade Frameworks is to teach planets, stars, moons, and constellations.
I feel that exciting activities to this unit of study would be to have "Star Gazing" nights for all 200 of my students. This will give them something to look forward to and also encourage them to learn more about space and our Solar System. This Ultimate Star Gazing Experience will reward them for all their hard work and study and will instill an interest that will hopefully carry on through their life.
