Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

One of the biggest challenges I face in my classroom is finding new ways to spark the children's interest in science. Building up my library with texts and publications that show what is out in the world can help to build that sense of wonder and bring back the magic to my students.

The students I teach in this area typically have very little world experience and don't get the chance to see much beyond their own town.

This publication would help bring some of that world to them. I am constantly trying to find ways to broaden their experiences and build their level of inquiry and wonder.

My Project

My students need a subscription to Science World. My students will use this publication as a resource to see the real world application of the theories and processes they are learning about. They will be able to enhance their literacy skills while at the same time gain knowledge of parts of the world they may not have a chance to learn about. They will also use this subscriptions for research for various projects.

Your donations will help to build literacy skills and reinforcement of the content by seeing the real world applications.

By improving literacy skills the students will also gain confidence in themselves and will foster a stronger motivation for their learning.
