This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

All of my special needs students love to eat chocolate chip cookies. They would like to make and share these cookies with their peers and our school personnel. This interactive lesson in baking will allow my students to learn the fundamentals of baking. We have access to a new Life Skills classroom but there are no cooking tools; mixing bowls; measuring tools; blenders; kitchen towels; baking pans or utensils. Baking in our new Life Skills classroom without baking supplies will be impossible for my students to have this experience.

The learning objectives are designed for the students to be able to understand, identify, apply and recognize the essential elements of baking.

Having these items on my donor's list will allow my students to exercise their motor skills when they are using measuring tools; utilize their cognitive skills when they apply their knowledge and understanding of wet and dry ingredients; practice health and safety management skills as they demonstrate the proper use of the mixer & blender and identify the appropriate utensils used in baking. The students' learning outcome will be their baked cookies and their beautiful smiles.

My students have already shown a great interest in cooking and reading recipes. This project will help enrich their interest as they bake their favorite cookie recipe, which we will name the "Simply Delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie."
