Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious, passionate, and enthusiastic learners who work by our school's four foundational values of compassion, respect, responsibility, and hard work. They challenge adversity to thrive in every obstacle they face. Through the tough instillation of a growth mindset, my students have begun looking beyond their time at this school towards a future of success and promise.

At a small school in East San Jose, where over 80% of students qualify for a free lunch and over 60% are classified as English Language Learners, my leaders are working hard thanks to the combined efforts of parents, teachers, and students.

My Project

After finishing my first year of teaching, I walked out with a long list of how I hope to improve my students' learning experiences for the following year.

These materials will contribute to the overall classroom culture and environment of feeling cared for, a feeling that is under appreciated and can be recognizably connected to overall improved academic behavior.

The collection of markers, pencils, colored pencils, and glue sticks should be enough to get a classroom of 3rd graders to the end of the year. The label maker, laminating pouches, easel pads, clock kit, and document camera will enhance our learning experience. These supplies will be used and appreciated daily.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
