Mrs. McLean from Spring Lake NC is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need headphones for our computer based learning software purchased by my school.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My school is a melting pot of ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds. We serve low-income students, middle class students, and military students. The majority of our students come from low-income families and face many challenges. Despite these challenges, they are eager to learn and experience new things. My aim is to use more digital tools in the teaching/learning process.
The students I encounter are clever, creative, energetic, and fun-loving.
They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. Because our school is a Title I school, our students may not have the opportunity to experience things that many of us might see as "typical." From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of learning and discovery!
Students are required to learn about 21st century skills in the classroom. As a media specialist, it is my job to introduce new computer based programs to students in K-5. The problem I am faced with is a lack of durable headphones in the media center. The funds I am allotted go directly to books that are lacking in the media center; therefore, technology suffers. The headphones will allow my students to practice these 21st century skills, while being focused and engaged.
The headphones I am requesting will allow my students to work on the programs such as I-ready, Headsprouts, and Kids A to Z.
My goal is to support classroom teachers by allowing my students to work on academics in the media center. Students need to be able to have access to head phones so they can work on literacy and math skills to ensure they meet their end of the year goals.
To all of my future donors, thank you all for supporting the needs of my students by providing much needed head phones! My students will truly enjoy being able to work in a quiet environment where they can focus and complete their media center activities.
