My Students

My low-income school is diverse and consists of many English Language Learners. It is also a magnet school for gifted students. Each grade level has one class of students who have tested into our Accelerated Learning Program (ALPS). Although I am the 2nd-grade ALPS teacher, I work with all students. I even collaborate with our resource team.

I know that all students of all abilities are eager and able to learn!

As our 2nd-grade team leader and our school's lead mentor, I will do all I can to help each child learn.

My Project

Technology has become such an important part of each day. We use computers for math, reading, writing, science, social studies, art, research, and individual projects. Sound effects enhance learning and motivate students. At times, sound is an integral part of computer programs. However, this can lead to background noise in the room. Some students are distracted and frustrated. Earbuds were an economical solution, but they were easily lost, tangled, and broken.

Having a class set of quality headphones would allow students to independently work in a quiet environment.

Students work at different paces and on different programs. Even if the volume is turned low, background noise fills the room. It would be so helpful to have quality earphones to use year after year.
