My Students

My Students

My students are from a small town in Mississippi.

They are economically disadvantaged being a low income school. They are eager to learn, well-behaved. They are your dream kindergartners. However, funding is an issue that makes having adequate resources difficult. In order to reach success more easily and to make learning more enjoyable, the students deserve adequate materials. It would bring joy to the classroom and improve their quality of learning. I am sure of this because they have improved so much already.

My Project

My students are practicing sight word recognition. I have used flash cards, games, and center activities. However, my goal is to transfer sight word recognition to reading. The library at my school has a very limited selection of kindergarten books. With these leveled readers in our classroom, I could use these books during small group instruction. The kids could practice reading a book independently that is on their level! They are excited about learning, and these books would put their sight word recognition to the test. Our main goal is reading. You can help us with that, and your donations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!
