Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am lucky to be the ELA teacher for 60 empathetic, respectful, imaginative, enthusiastic, and hardworking second graders. Our second graders are future lawyers, doctors, teachers, politicians, athletes, firefighters, police officers, and engineers. Our second graders are future change makers!
Our school serves students in K-5 and strives to eliminate the achievement gap that exists in our community.
Our school focuses on individualized learning, parent partnership, and development of great teachers. Providing our students with excellent education will give them the skills they need to change the world around them.
My Project
Our class currently has 10 Chromebooks, however most of the computers are missing multiple keys, have broken screens, and cannot hold a charge. We have attempted to get them fixed, however, due to their age, they are no longer serviceable. Our students use their online programs to engage in phonics programs, reading programs, coding programs, and math programs. Each online learning program is personalized to the needs of each student. Due to the state of our class computers, only a handful of students can access their programs consistently.
