Our school serves students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. As a result, we are consistently one of the top-performing schools in our district each year. Our goal is to prepare our students for success in middle school and high school by providing a strong foundation with the best public education. My students walk into our classroom every day full of energy, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I ask them, "Who is the best first grade class around?" and their answer is always, "We are!" I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything if they apply themselves.
They are our future, and I strive to provide the foundation they need to become successful adults.
My Project
The use of technology is a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math and reading. Using technology in math and reading students use these programs to help reinforce a standard taught or as an intervention to struggling to help aid them in their academic success. The computers and management licenses allow me to see exactly what they are doing, the progress made, where their deficit areas are, and adjust their learning accordingly. By having new technology, students will be able to avoid all of the problems that happen daily, such as computers freezing, and sound coming in and out due to old hard drives. Having to stop small group instruction due to students having trouble with their computers is time-consuming and distracting to all students.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention, focus and desire to learn, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement through the use of this up-to-date technology.
Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their computers are going to work that day or not. Plus, in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
