Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a very diverse community. Many students in my class are the first in their family to be educated in the United States. Families in our class are primarily Spanish and Mixteco speaking where students serve as translators for their families. The students want to learn. Students enjoy using our class Chromebooks and for most, this is their only access to a computer. My class strives to do better at something every day. Many students are working below grade level, but they learn something new every day and do try their best to learn.
My class loves learning new things every day.
Our class is working to become amazing learners, even during these distance learning times. The class strives to do their best, even as our class has shifted to remote and online classes. Each day we work to do our best with the technology hurdles that we face during remote learning. Our classroom is a gateway to learning but it is driven by the students. My class loves to explore and learn new activities and facts.
My Project
During distance learning, it has been very difficult to truly show students how to do certain projects and work. Using a separate webcam and tablet to show students how to solve problems or see examples has worked but a better solution is needed. Students need a crisp and clear image of what the teacher is demonstrating. The addition of USB doc cams will allow me to demonstrate activities and work to students without any delay.
When students can truly see the examples and work, they have a better chance to understand what they are exploring.
The addition of these two document cameras will allow me to present better lessons and demonstrations to students while we are in distance learning. The use of two cameras will allow for multiple computers to be utilized during this distance learning time so I can work with multiple groups while not having to continually plug and unplug devices. Once we go back to in-person learning, these document cameras will allow students to make and create stop motion animation.
