Showing Our Work in Style!

My students need a creative area where they can display their thought process and write out all their strategies when working out any problem.

My Students

There are so many things about my students that make them unique to me. They are kind, funny, excitable, and little sponges who are in need of water that they can soak up and grow! They come from a low income background with a majority of my students living in single parent households with mothers working 2 to 3 jobs to support their family. We have an 85 percent free or reduced-price lunch rate and the majority of our students are bused to school every day.

I work in a Title I school.

Many of my students come to me below grade level and in need of a lot of assistance in all subject areas, especially reading. Reading is a battle that my school district fights every year. It is a battle that we intend to WIN! When I walk in my classroom everyday I am greeted with big smiles and hugs. My students love to learn and are willing to do what it takes to push themselves to a proficient level. My students are AMAZING!

My Project

These dry erase tables will be such a wonderful tool in my classroom. 3rd grade is a BIG transition grade and it is a hard time for many 3rd graders. They have to adapt to testing and many other changes that they are not use to in the lower grades. These dry erase tables will allow my students to look at showing their work in a different light. They will have the freedom to display their work in bright colors and share with their fellow classmates how their thought process works and how they came up with their answers. It will allow the lower level students to get help from the higher level students that solved a problem using a different strategy that helped them. They will be able to bounce ideas off one another and really learn from each other.

These tables will reach students that express themselves in different ways than paper and pencil.

They will open up my classroom to become more creative and push my students to test and act on their creativity to express themselves when solving word problems, fast facts, breaking problems down, answering questions about a text, partner work, and so much more! These tables will be such a treasure and such a wonderful tool that will definitely be utilized in my classroom. My students will be over the moon excited to use them!!!
