This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Everyday I have the goal of making my students smile and instilling in them confidence and independence that can be carried with them for a lifetime.

I am an art teacher in one of the largest K-6 schools in my district.

I serve over 800 students a week, on a cart. Our school is very multicultural, serving African Americans, Hispanics, Caucasians, Philippine, Taiwanese, and Polish students. We are a low-income, limited English school. Over 52% of our students are ELL. Despite this we are a very high achieving school. My school is very proud of its diversity and achievements, and we thrive on beating the odds.

My Project

I am starting up a webpage linked to our schools website that will show off a portfolio of artwork done by every student. My students work hard and take the Arts seriously, and it would be such an inspiration if I could post their artwork for their families to see. Many of my students have family in Central and Southern America, and I have a vision of them being able to show-off their art all across the world to the people they love and do not get to see often, if at all.

With your donation of a digital camera, you will be assisting me in motivating and inspiring my students to do their best and be proud of their work.

There is a difference in attitude when the children know their artwork is going to be displayed such an unlimited audience. The students take pride in their artwork and know that what they have created is worthy of the world to see.
