Help me give my students a Microsoft Surface Go with a keyboard cover and a stylus pen. This new device will be used in class to demonstrate new concepts and to maximize student understanding.
My students attend a low SES school in a rural area of West Virginia. A declining and aging population means fewer funds for pubic education.
My students are high achieving 11th and 12th graders studying Pre-Calculus, College Algebra, and AP Calculus.
They are excited about mathematics and science, and they plan to attend college to pursue careers in STEM fields. Having access to the latest technology allows them to compete on a level field with students from more affluent areas.
My Project
My students in AP Calculus and Pre-Calculus have many online learning tools to practice, enhance, and assess learning mathematics. Unfortunately, our classroom laptops are old and outdated and using them is often frustrating.
A Microsoft Surface Go will allow my students to better utilize their subscriptions to WebAssign, MathXL, and IXL as well as project their screen as they use the stylus pen to demonstrate their problem solving process.
This learning tool is also a wonderful way for students to work on math concepts at their own pace and receive instant feedback and reinforcement. My college-bound accelerated math students need the opportunity to become proficient with these online learning systems to prepare for college math courses.
