My students need an iPad compatible with the Apple Pencil to make full class annotations, instructional videos from video screen captures and to be used as a tool to organize/store questions digitally during lessons.
Making mistakes is part of our process towards mastery in math. We learn a lot from the questions we ask and revisiting the things we didn't know yesterday.
When we talk about what we don't know, we emphasize that we don't know "insert concept" yet.
We make sure we annotate while we work and show what we know or what we would like to know before asking for help. Students see math class as a safe place to practice.
Everyday in math is an opportunity to grow.
My Project
The class iPad will be a tool to record questions, demonstrate understanding and capture student created mini lessons.
Using the iPad with an Apple Pencil students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of concepts for whole class demonstrations.
The class currently shares out using the document camera. The benefit of using the iPad with Apple Pencil is that we will be able to screen record a video with audio of the student's demonstration. Videos will be posted to our class website and shared as resources with all classes.
The other benefit of using the iPad is to organize class questions. Currently we annotate problems with information we know and information we need. Students' questions can be posted as hard copies but collecting digital copies makes it easier to share progress with students over the course of the school year.
