My students come to class daily ready to work and play. We are located in a rural section of the most beautiful place in the world (North Carolina). Parents work hard to try to give their students everything they can. Coming from low-income neighborhoods, oftentimes it is hard to help purchase supplies. Despite the struggles that my students face daily, they push through to climb the mountain of success.
It is my goal that every child enjoys learning and grows to be a very successful citizen.
The best way for this to be done is including the family in education. It takes a village to raise a child.
My Project
Do you remember thinking writing is such a chore when you were 8 yrs old? I remember it and now my students think that. I am determined to change that mindset. When students are able to use dry erase markers and boards, writing is the BOMB!
In our class we have been writing on the tables (it cleans off), but I would love for my students to be able to use individual boards on our carpet.
These boards, markers, and erasers will be used for a variety of activities. We can use them for building math fluency, instead of having to make paper copies (saves trees). We can use them for our small guided reading groups to show our comprehension (more trees saved). Every time students pick up these materials they will be practicing their writing and will love it.
