My students are energetic, curious, and eager to have hands-on experiences to support their learning. They like to be challenged and think out of the box to find solutions. We incorporate a variety of ways of learning in our classroom: group work, seating options, bringing in real world experiences, and offering student choice in displaying knowledge of the content. My students inspire me everyday to be better, think with an open-mind, and do my best to bring our classroom to life.
My Project
The real-working cash registers will give my children the opportunity to have hands-on experience with collecting and counting money. We plan to use them for our addition and subtraction unit. We are going to open a Food Truck Park where each group will get to design and create a food truck. They will design the food truck, create a menu, and use these cash registers to simulate running their own businesses while taking actual orders from customers! They will be able to take orders, count money, and use the registers (and addition and subtraction) to put their math skills to the test!
