My Students

I work with students that are identified as needing some additional support in the area of math for grades K-5. My students have a strong desire to learn, but are struggling in the regular classroom and benefit from small-group instruction where hands-on tools are provided and individual attention is given.

It is so much fun to see the growth students make when they have the opportunity to work in a small group.

Nothing makes me happier than when I witness a student's face light up when he or she catches on to a new math concept.

My Project

My students have a hard time with abstract math. They benefit from working in a small group and from using pictorial representation. For example, many of my students struggle when given a math equation or word problem where they are expected to solve the problem with paper and pencil. Instead, they need the opportunity to act out the problem using hands-on materials or drawings.

This dry-erase board kidney table will give the students opportunities to explain their thinking using pictures, proof drawing, and equations.

The table will make it easy for students to share their thinking with one another.
