This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to have to raise your hand and volunteer your answer? Using answer boards removes the fear of giving the incorrect answer in front of the entire class. Students can share their answers easily and I can see who still needs more help.

I have a wonderful class of first grade students that are second language learners.

They are often reluctant to volunteer answers and are apprehensive when called upon. Many lack the confidence in their speaking abilities to participate freely in answering questions orally.

My Project

Incorporating answer boards into my class will allow these reluctant second language learners to fully participate by removing their fear of making a mistake in front of the entire class. It will help build their confidence as participators as they use the answer boards during during math, language arts, science, social studies, and review games with other team members. It creates a win win situation for the students and the teacher.

Help me create a safe learning environment for my second language learners by giving us an alternative way to participate, learn, and grow.

These answer boards can be used many ways and across the curriculum daily. They will be a vital tool in learning everyday of the school year.
