This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our (ICT) students come from diverse backgrounds, many with low income homes with over 80% receiving free lunch, and many coming in hungry for breakfast. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in Brooklyn. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Hatian, and Arabic.
As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics.
We have students with many different learning styles as well as many different levels within those particular styles. It is our goal that all students in our class are engaged and active in their learning.
My Project
The use of the document camera will allow all our students to access the lesson in a more engaging manner. The document camera will give us the opportunity to model examples for all students at once, share images, enlarge images, and display text for all my students. It is a basic necessity for our visual learners, of which we have many. Since visualization is very important to help aid the students to do their best, a document camera is very much needed.
An Elmo will allow us to show students hands-on how to handle a multitude of tasks, whether writing, reading, math, social studies, science or handwriting.
