This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
High school is challenging for a variety of different reasons. Between personal and family issues, passing classes, peer relationships, working, and after-school activities, my students are dealing with a number of obstacles, but they recognize what they can do to accomplish their goals. I have future neurosurgeons, pediatricians, artists, politicians, engineers, and teachers in my classroom, and they are ready to start making a difference in their communities.
My students are inquisitive about the world around them; they are creative and caring, and they want to improve their community.
I have the privilege of working at an awesome high school in Jacksonville, Florida. I learn so much from my students on a daily basis that it drives me to seek out ways to bring in different strategies and resources that will challenge them to think and discuss the world around them.
My Project
Our school doesn't have access to color printers for students or teachers. If teachers want to print in color, we have to do it from home or by paying a local business printing costs. The goal of this project is to provide a color printer in the classroom so that students can print different writing assignments and I can print posters and handouts for students when needed.
A color printer in our classroom would make our work come to life!
Students will be able to post their poems, short stories, applications, and the images they create.
