Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 27 fifth grade students enjoy coming to school and learning from the teachers and one another. Situated in the Bronx, New York, my students love coming to school. It is here, in this small school of 400 students, that they feel safe and are learning to be part of there community. Accepting differences in race, gender and ethnicity.

Our classroom is an ICT class.

Here, students with various disabilities and general education students work and learn together. All of them come from different backgrounds with various living situations at home. Some come from middle class families while others live close to poverty.

But regardless of the situation, our 27 students are learning the core subjects but most importantly are learning to become exceptional young adults.

My Project

Having a projector in my classroom will give my students the opportunity to see and interact with the lessons and concepts that are being taught. Students will be able to go to the board and engage in hands on activities which help them learn and understand concepts better.

Shared Reading experience will be better when students have their eyes on the screen reading the projected text.

Writing will improve as students can see examples of writing on the board. Finally, teaching math will be more engaging as students will have the opportunity to walk up to the board and work on problems.
