My students need a light table for our growing program!
"Tell me, I'll forget. Show me, I'll remember. Involve me, I'll understand." Light tables have proven to be an invaluable resource in the preschool classroom. This resource provides the children with opportunities to actively engage in areas such as math, science, and fine motor development.
My school is a non-profit preschool that is part of a public school district in Colorado.
My students range in age from three to five years old. My students are creative, compassionate, and full of life every day! Some of the students at our preschool are experiencing school for the first time and others are on their way to kindergarten. Our program strives each day to provide all of our students with a nurturing, caring, and respectful environment that fosters strong social skills. In addition, our program provides a rich academic foundation. Our students are exposed to all core content areas through literacy and hands-on learning experiences. At my school, it is our goal to provide the highest quality of Early Education to our students. Our program has been so successful that it is growing! This year we have four classrooms and next year we will need to add two new classrooms to accommodate the growing enrollment!
This year I have experienced firsthand the true value of a light table in a preschool classroom. The light table has been an invaluable resource for providing our students with hands-on, engaging learning experiences. We have used the light table to enhance learning experiences in core content areas such as math and science. The light table is also an excellent tool for fine motor development. During science, we have used the light table to view x-rays of human bones, insect exoskeletons, flower petals, and other science slides. We use the light table to explore light, colors, shapes and number patterns. The light table is also an excellent resource to help our students develop fine motor skills. We use the light table to practice tracing individual letters, numbers, sight words, and theme related pictures. The light table truly brings learning to life for the students! The students adore using the light table to practice, experiment, classify, explore, and create!
As I mentioned our program is growing.
This year we have four classrooms and next year we will have six! We are so excited about the growth and we will need new materials to support our new classrooms. My school is a non-profit preschool and coming up with all of the resources necessary for six classrooms can be a challenge. The light table is a valuable learning component in the preschool classroom.
