My students need crayons, pencils, glue, and scissors. We are low on many of the basics. These items are used daily and imperative to our classroom operations.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a class of 25 students in an LEAD inclusion class setting at a Title I school. 100% of our students receive free breakfast & lunch. Our group is a very diverse bunch! We have students on the autistic spectrum, English as their second language, ADD or ADHD diagnosis, learning disabilities and more.
With that being said, they are kind, eager to learn, and energetic.
We love these kids! They have already made positive strides in the classroom and work hard every day.
My Project
Our school serves a low-income population. Because of this, our supplies are starting to dwindle. We may have had students unable to provide supplies in the beginning of the year, or need to use them at home. We've also had students leave or new students enter our class which puts a strain on our resources.
Our class can not run without the basics!
Pencils, tissues, crayons, glue, and scissors are used every day! They have been overused, worn down, lost, broken, or just plain depleted. My self, my co-teachers, my school and many of the parents who have been able to provide extra resources here and there, however the well will run dry VERY soon.
I am asking for these supplies so that myself, my co-teacher, and my students don't have to stress over things like not having crayons to complete an assignment. Or what happens when their pencil breaks. Or when the cold season comes around, being able to use a tissue and have more to replace it. Some may take these things for granted- BUT NOT US! We are beyond grateful for the little things.
