Help me give my students a band saw and nailer to help them build their carpentry projects.

Our school is in the heart of Uptown, New Orleans but our students come from all over the city - bused in from places far removed, both geographically and economically, from the site of our school. Many come from areas still ravaged (and never rebuilt) by the flooding that followed Katrina. Many of these areas are plagued by violence and when something happens in the street, it makes its way into our school.
83% of our students qualify for free school lunches.
In spite of the achievement gap that plagues most inner-city schools, we boast a 94% graduation rate, a number not achieved by ushering kids through. All of our students are immersed in rigorous STEM curricula and over 80% of our seniors are enrolled in at least one AP course.
Our students are doing amazing things and leaving adversity in their wakes. They reflect the unsinkable spirit of the city in which they live. It seems whatever challenge we toss their way, they're prepared to answer with pride.
Sci High Makerspace & Carpentry programs have a shared work space where students collaborate with one another as well as our industry partners to learn life long skills.
These tools will be essential to our students as they develop new skills and gain knowledge they will continue to use throughout their life - Band Saw and Nailer.
Our CTE program is dedicated to exposing kids to the rewards of skilled trade careers and offering industry-based credentials in high-wage, high-demand fields. Having tools like the band saw and nailer would give these students the ability to gain knowledge that will help them as they continue through life. It is our hope that, given the resources, our students can change their communities by empowering themselves personally, economically and socially.
With your help, our students can take their development to the next level, designing and building a structure from start to finish.
