Our school has a 68% poverty rate. Many of our students come from challenging homes, and don’t have the resources for extracurricular activities. My teaching team has become certified as NASP instructors and are starting an archery club before/after school for 4th and 5th grade students that will compete as a team at local and state competitions. We are hoping to empower confidence, focus, discipline, and safety in our students through archery; as well as promoting an appreciation for outdoor recreation.
My Project
Within our program, a majority of our students are right-handed, yet many of them are left-eye dominant. This has found us in a dilemma of not having enough left-handed bows.
These two additional Genesis bows will allow more of our left-eye dominant students the opportunity to practice and compete.
Additionally, our arrows are used constantly and we are in need of replenishing our supply. We also need more arrows to allow for more students to shoot and compete at one time. Our goal is to maximize our time so all kids can participate and these resources will help do that!
