Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As John F. Kennedy once said, "Intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong."
My mission is to promote lifelong learning through physical activity, exercise, & sport while supporting students in making health conscious decisions, meeting challenges, and participating in mentally positive behaviors.
My students absolutely love activity and play. I am an elementary Physical Education teacher that provides instruction for grades 4th-6th. My students look forward to the days of the week when they have P.E. class. Regardless of their physical skill level and the challenges they face, my students are a group of enthusiastic learners eager to be challenged.
My Project
My soccer unit is a set of lessons that will progressively take my students from learning basic skills through the actual game of soccer. My students will be learning how to dribble, pass, shoot into a goal, and goalkeeping.
Soccer will teach my students teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, and decision-making.
All the lead-up games my students will be participating in will focus on specific soccer skills that will build on their abilities. The culmination is to have my students take part in tournament play where they are part of a team.
In order to implement this unit, each of my students will need vest pinnies and enough soccer balls for equitable participation. Your donations would be greatly appreciated because it would greatly improve and enhance our Physical Education program.
