My students need two bottle rocket launchers, five altitude measuring tools, a balloon rocket challenge kit to design and test how force affects a rocket's altitude, and a chemical reaction rocket kit.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students are curious children who don't have many of the same opportunities as I'd like them to have.
They rarely travel beyond the city they live in. With the introduction of STEM education, they are beginning to set their sights higher. They are learning that there is a whole world available to them.
My Project
Space science fascinates my students. They are so engrossed in their learning that they don't realize all the subjects we are covering. We will soon begin a unit on force, motion, and rocketry as a follow up to our study of the solar system. The various rocket kits and altitude measuring tools requested will provide them with a hands-on understanding of how force impacts the altitude a rocket can reach. They will compete in a design challenge to see who can build the highest flying rocket. Nothing motivates the students more than an activity where they can design, build, and test their models.
A hands-on approach allows my students to cement their learning and understanding.
It piques their interest into delving deeper into the myriad of opportunities for their futures. My goal is to instill in them that if they shoot for the stars, they'll at least reach the moon.
