Help me give my students equipment necessary to make our hunter safety shooting sports team practices safe and successful, as well as able to properly prepare the team for the FFA Youth Hunter Education Skills Tournament.
My students are enrolled in the agriculture education courses and involved in the FFA program at NECP. Being as we are a charter school, our possibilities of projects and activities with these students are endless. My students are eager to learn more about the agriculture industry and they thrive from hands-on activities.
NECP agriculture students are eager to learn the facts about agriculture and even more motivated to share their knowledge with others.
In the agriculture classroom, not only do I teach them practices and methods of modern farming/ranching, but I teach them how to advocate for agriculture too. It is my hope, that I can help sharpen the skills they need in other classes through our agriculture-related activities and lessons.
My Project
The NECP FFA chapter will be sponsoring a hunter safety shooting sports team for the first time this school year. Through the NC Youth Hunter Education Skills Tournament, students will participate in five categories: rifle, shotgun, archery, orienteering, and safety skills.
In addition to learning proper care, use, and safety revolved around firearms and bows, students will learn about the environmental effects of safe hunting skills and wildlife conservation.
The materials involved in this project will help our FFA chapter create a safe and successful practice range to prepare our students for the Youth Hunter Education Skills Tournament. Safety and accuracy are our main goals for our students, as well as teaching them a valuable hobby they can use time after time.
