My Students

Kindergarten through second grade lays the solid foundation necessary for successful learning in other grades. My 12 students with special needs receive instruction in both the inclusion class (15 students in kindergarten, 15 students in first grade, and 24 students in second grade) and the special education class.

Aloha from the beautiful state of Hawaii where we seek to empower our students through education!

Our school is located in a predominantly rural, low-income neighborhood with a considerable portion of the children being of native Hawaiian and/or Pacific Island ancestry. Even with the financial challenges impacting their lives, my students come to school excited. Although they may not have the materials needed or a foundation of early learning experiences, they do possess a strong desire to learn!

My Project

Physically fit bodies improve thinking minds. Kids need to move during their breaks from the academic rigor in the classroom. The basketball hoop and basketballs will increase my students' choices for recess play. This equipment will also be used to strengthen gross motor skills during structured physical education class.

This kid-inspired project will help promote skills that are essential for my students' general well-being, health, and success in school.

I want to provide my eager young learners with a well-rounded curriculum that includes gross motor opportunities that will ignite their desire to engage in health-enhancing activities. Help us Shoot for Success!
