High poverty schools are tough to work in. The parents are tough, the kids are tough and money is TIGHT! However, I have a group of kids this year that is hungry to learn. Many of them have special needs, but the desire to learn about Science and Social Studies is above average.
Hunger would be a word to describe my kids: hungry for food and for academics.
My school does a food pantry and a clothing drive each month. It is amazing to see the families who come out. Our staff works the pantry. I would love to be able to give them all the food they want, but that is not realistic. However, I can feed them knowledge that might help them to get out of the cycle of poverty.
My Project
My students need hands-on science equipment to help them understand abstract concepts, like electricity. Our students will use these materials to gain an understanding of how electricity works, and how to measure liquids in the lab. These activities will be used during Science times throughout the year. They will be able to use these during our whole group. Your generous donation to our project will greatly improve our classroom by encouraging hands on learning. This will change our students' lives for the better. They will love school and feel success at an early age --- having fun while learning!
Your generous donation to our project will improve our 4th grade classroom by building a stronger scientists and a love for science.
This will change our students' lives for the better because they will love school and feel success at an early age --- having fun while learning!
