Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds within a suburban community that has a largely low, socioeconomic level and few opportunities for extended learning experiences beyond the school day. Our school serves approximately seventy-three percent of its population free or reduced-rate meals.
My students all are eager to do their personal best and to develop as lifelong learners.
Learning is not a "one size fits all" event; it takes many different approaches for students to find their comfort levels and their best learning styles. My students are gearing up to figure out their own personal best approaches to learning!
My Project
Our classmates will use Chromebooks to do research into topics of interest to increase motivation to learn and excel. They will also use Chromebooks to practice math and reading fluency in engaging formats to help them master those basic skills that are the building blocks for all others! Our class also proudly integrates all areas of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) into our daily learning. We participate in activities that build our knowledge base and experience within each of those areas and look forward to learning even more by connecting with other like-minded classrooms and resources via Chromebooks. Students love to use technology to learn just about anything! Having current technology that is user-friendly and easily accessible is key.
Students today are preparing for jobs that do not even exist yet and I want to be a part of putting current and growing technology resources into their hands to help them be as prepared as possible!
The number of ways in which students can use Chromebooks to drive learning is nearly immeasurable!
