This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Many of the students at our school have no past experience with formal education. The students in my class are economically diverse, but has a love for learning.
The opportunity to mold a young mind to be respectful of all living creatures and to keep an open mind to new opportunities, people, places, and food is exciting.
There is a large impact that I have, and I take that very seriously. My students are always eager to share their experiences and they tend to teach me a lot about myself and the world around me. I love meeting each new group of children and discovering all about them as they change and grow throughout the year. And finally, I love the opportunities to get creative. Not just creative in art, but in the way I teach, the songs we use, and the layout of my classroom.
My Project
My young scholars will be eager to explore with these colorful and perfect-size pieces. These accessories can help take boring old table activities to a whole other level. My young scholars will use the translucent letters by placing the letters on the light table to practice sequencing, building simple words and more. The translucent numbers will be used for my scholars to practice counting, sequencing, and identifying quantities. We will also be able to use these accessories for many other activities such as sorting by various attributes, addition, subtraction, groups, ordinal numbers, patterning, etc. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in exploring the properties of color and light and this project will only help enrich their experiences while playing with the light table.
