We have an amazing group of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who are eager to share their talents and joy of performing.
While some of their peers find ways to "not be noticed", we want to encourage and celebrate our many students who are ready to put themselves out there, building their self-confidence and public performance skills.
To support them, we are building a performing arts program at our charter school with the help of staff and parent volunteers.
My Project
Our older school has a functional stage but all but one of the lights have burned out and can not be used for productions.
We need a lighting system that allows our performers to be seen on stage and gives our student technical crew the opportunity to be creative when designing lighting for all-school productions and small group showcase events.
Beyond basic lighting, this system will enhance the student performances by setting the mood for different scenes and allowing for special effects to build excitement. All of the design decisions will be under the control of our student technical crew who will also learn valuable leadership skills. Materials in this project also includes headsets for our two-way radios so student stage managers and lead engineers can communicate during the production.
