This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a K-5 public school within the city limits, where much of our student population comes from low-income or single parent homes. Many students live with their grandparents or foster families. Regardless of my students' socio-economic status, I have learned that they all have unique situations related to their education. It is oftentimes alarming to listen to some stories, as students lack experiences that support the foundation for learning and critical thinking. Each year I work with students having attention concerns and it can be very difficult for them to stay focused for extended periods of time. I like to find new, innovative ideas for our classroom. I want my students to wake up each day excited to come to their classroom.
My Project
Let's shine the neon lights on learning! Adding this Hosim 32" x 24" illuminated LED message writing board to my classroom will provide an innovative and creative way to display our daily learning targets. Each day, learning targets are displayed as a focus for that day's lesson. With 16 light color choices, this exciting board will surely capture the attention of my students as they focus on their daily learning targets.
