Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households, but come ready to learn and are excited to be at school! We are a very industrious and eager first grade classroom that love to get hands-on in exploring our concepts and knowledge in our lessons.
They are such an inquisitive group of students who love to dive into the material and collaborate together to learn everyday.
I am so excited to be serving their classroom this year and want to give them every opportunity to learn and grow.
My Project
Hi! We are on our way to becoming computer literate in our classroom. We currently have access to five Chromebooks in the classroom, and I use them for stations so that these resources are being used throughout the day and more often in our class. I noticed that the students have trouble with understanding the basics about navigating the Chromebook and being able to be independent users of this technology.
We have started a computer literacy effort in my class in order to teach these growing 1st graders how to use and learn with a computer more efficiently, with good understanding of the software/hardware, and help them to become literate in more than numeracy and literacy.
Our first lesson was designed to teach students the different parts of the computer, how to use the shift key when making a capital letter, and the terms: browser, web page, and program. However! We have so much more to discover.
