I am blessed to have 16 bright and energetic preschoolers in my class. They come to school each morning with unbridled enthusiasm and a zest for learning. Together, we have created a classroom environment that is safe and welcoming and allows each student to go home with a sense of accomplishment.
My students qualify to attend preschool by being low socioeconomic or as a second language learner.
Many come from homes where meaningful toys are not available and the use of academic language is rare. Regardless of barriers, our motto is “we can and we will”!
The sand and water play table supports hands on exploration of fluid materials and allows children to take in information through their senses. My students can use the sand to create shapes and structures, while the water component will introduce them to early physics concepts like motion and flowing water.
Sensory play stimulates all the child’s senses: touch, smell, movement, balance, sight and hearing.
In addition, cooperatively playing with peers at the table will encourage sharing and problem solving. The sensory table will encourage the use of the scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore with the sand and water kits. I want to facilitate learning for my little budding scientists.
