My students need science materials. Educating our children to become advanced scientific thinkers is necessary for the future of our Earth and all her inhabitants.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The challenge my students face on a daily basis is have adequate materials to engage in real understanding of the science concepts I am teaching them. Often, they are given only a few tools to conduct science labs and the rest of their understanding comes from text books.
My student attend a school in a high poverty area.
They are a group of 5th grade students who are motivated to learn math and science skills. They look forward to attending my science class and doing the scientific inquiry method. Especially the labs. They work hard on the vocabulary, questions, hypothesis, procedures, conclusions, and data but it is obvious to me that their hearts are really into the labs.
My goal is to make the labs more meaningful with materials that enhance the learning process. These materials are important to my students because they tend to make the most academic gains in the math and science areas.
I wish you could meet our 5th graders. They are a group of students who require structure, consistency, motivation and, of course, people who care about their academic successes in order for them to succeed. It is important for you to note that they have a wonderful sense of humor and that is why I enjoy every moment with them and work hard to educate them.
My Project
Can you imagine if Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, or Benjamin Franklin had to learn from a text book? Do you think they would be the notable scientists they are today? I think we all know the answer to these questions.
I have ordered teacher resource science books, student science books in physical science areas, technology to explain concepts in the physical sciences. I am especially looking forward to the student's reaction to the microscope slides and telescope. Two pieces of equipment they would never have had access to before.
I have decorated my classroom with all types of scientific posters, materials, and grouped them by famous scientists. I want them to know how important science is to the future of all man kind. The more resources and materials I provide, the more opportunities they have to learn their role in the scientific world.
These materials will make all of us proud of our children. They are all our children. The more they know, the more they'll grow:)
Every teacher believes their projects are necessary and want to motivate their students, but I am especially excited because my primary responsibility is to teach science to 80 fifth graders.
This coming year I have the first time opportunity to teach reading and science. I am interested in combining both these subject areas and building upon the student's nonfiction reading ability through science materials. Your help would be more than appreciated and used as efficiently as possible.
