My students are ready to use our greenhouses for project-based learning. To use them for our projects, we need shelves, seed pods, pots and seeds. My students will use these materials at all grade levels and these resources will be focused on the projects that help to better our community.
These materials will allow my students to continue to help our community and the environment all year long.
The two main projects that will share these greenhouses are our community hunger project and Monarch butterfly project.
For our community hunger project, my fifth-grade students will make a positive impact on hunger in our community.
They will test several growing systems and would love to expand their efforts and produce more food for those who are hungry in our community. We are a Title I school and many of our students experience hunger on a daily basis. They will grow fresh fruits and vegetables in the greenhouses, with these resources.
The second student-led project, that will share the greenhouses, is our mission to help pollinators, specifically the Monarch butterfly. My students will build a pollinator garden. We plan to become a Monarch Way Station in order to help the Monarch butterfly population recover from devastating losses. Milkweed is essential to the survival of the Monarch butterfly. Your donation will provide shelves, seeds, pots and seed pellets that will grow milkweed and pollinator plants for Monarchs. Thank you for helping us help our community!
