Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students are all male in a 75% free and reduced lunch environment. I am a push in IRR teacher which means I have students who have an IEP or Individualized Education Plan. My desire is for a shelf to organize my IEP Binders and supplies for students who come in for accommodations. I’m not choose just need a shelf with three shelves in it. Material does not matter. Just need it to be sturdy.

My Project

Our students produce work that currently waddles on a bookshelf with a back that is coming off. I am constantly pushing it up against the wall so that it does not fall over or the books fall out of the back.

I desperately need a bookshelf that will hold their IEP Binders, forms needed to process their special education paperwork, copy paper, notebook paper, and all items needed for us to work efficiently in the classroom.

The room I am in had 60 desks that packed up high. Over several days I moved each desk out to create a learning space that was warm and accessible to students who struggle to learn. This shelf will help keep our room organized and ready for learning. Thank you so much.
