My Students

The majority of my students are English language learners from low-income, immigrant families who qualify for free and reduced price lunch. They live in small, one room apartments with shared kitchens and bathrooms. In spite of these hardships, these wonderful students come to school eager to learn! Although their parents expect them to do well in school, most of the parents feel they cannot help their children with their schooling because of their long work hours and their own limited English speaking skills.

Because my students are English language learners, the school can sometimes be a struggle as they are trying to learn new concepts and English at the same time.

Some of my students also have special needs, making school even more of a challenge. Each year my hope is for all my students to excel in all subject areas while developing responsible habits and a love of learning.

My Project

Books love shelves and our library is in need of a sturdy shelf. It'll make a huge difference in my classroom as the students will have a place to store their materials and books. This unit will also house the books the students will read over the year, and for years to come.

My eager students love reading and their books love shelves.

Students enjoy selecting a book, finding a comfy place to sit such as pillows, bean bags and carpets to read and share with their friends. Having a comfy place to read and store books is the heart of a classroom library. Your donation will be the center focus of our classroom.
