This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In their own words, "Just because I am a girl, doesn't mean I can't play basketball and baseball as well as anyone else." "Just because I am African-American, doesn't mean that I'm loud, rude or a bad person." "Just because I'm shy, doesn't mean I don't have great ideas."

Our students represent the ethnic, economic, language and religious diversity of East Oakland.

We know that learning can only take place when a strong foundation of community and love is established. Grounded in the philosophy of restorative justice, all students are known and loved.

My Project

My students are reading at home online, but there's nothing like having a great book in your hand that you get to keep forever.

Please help my students to enrich their book collections at home and continue their learning while we are apart from each other!

We picked some great young adult literature to pass out to our students while they are at home including authors like Kwame Alexander, and hits like The Hate U Give.

I know our students will be thrilled to have these books in their hands!
