Remember your first dissection? The simultaneous feelings of fear, awe, and excitement? Dissection labs are the most memorable for all students with all the strong feelings associated with the process.
Our current freshmen and sophomores attend our high school to receive an optimal medical preparatory education.
They are dedicated to serving their community and becoming the future leaders in health careers. The teachers at our school set high expectations for all our kids with the mindset that they will become our healthcare providers. 99% of our students are underrepresented in the medical career, creating additional obstacles for our kids that they continually work hard and overcome. We are currently in our second year of fruition which simultaneously builds excitement for creating our brand, but also continuously pushes us to work above and beyond in multiple roles.
Our students will learn the anatomy of the heart by identifying the structures of a sheep heart. They will be able to see and touch all the intricate details of the heart anatomy. They will be able to follow the path of blood through the heart with their fingers probing through the blood vessels and heart chambers. In addition, they will discuss the ethics regarding live and virtual dissections. They will critically think of how the lab fits into the context of their education as well as the environment.
A sheep heart dissection will be incredibly memorable for our students, being the first dissection of many they will perform in their medical education.
A dissection will put their textbook learning to real life, being able to gage how complex the body is. It will build critical laboratory skills that will transcend for all their science laboratory courses.
