Shedding Light On Our Projection Predicament

My students need a new classroom multimedia projector to replace the one which has died.

I teach geometry and algebra in a public high school where most of my students are college bound. I like to be able to engage them in our lessons through the use of an interactive whiteboard, PowerPoints and Internet sites which display the topics we are studying. The students are much more involved in the lessons presented in this manner. Many topics can be illustrated much more clearly through the use of these materials than I could ever have done with simple two dimensional drawings.

Unfortunately, our projector has died. As a result, I am no longer able to use many of the materials I have prepared for the students and I cannot share with them sites on the internet. This makes it especially difficult for my geometry students to be able to visualize the properties of the geometric shapes presented.

We are in desperate need of a new multimedia projector to use with my laptop. Without the projector to complete the "set," our mimio equipment is useless. I have personally provided the laptop in use, but cannot afford a projector as well. With the budget cuts in place these days, there is no money available in the school's budget at this time either.

Your assistance will help ensure that my students get the best that I can give them in their lessons. It will bring the material alive for them and put the three dimensional aspects back in our geometry lessons. We can stop living in "flatland" and return to fully rounded lessons.
