This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The student population at my school is comprised of 3rd through 5th grades. The intermediate grades are truly a treat to teach. They are independent "big kids" with the enthusiasm for learning evident in "little kids." Our students love and respect their teachers.

The students in my location have very limited background knowledge and experiences.

We are located in an area with a higher number of public housing and poverty than compared to other cities in our part of Alabama. Students struggle to fill gaps while learning on grade level.

My Project

Do you remember what it felt like to come to school with new school supplies? Each Christmas, Santa would fill my stocking with new school supplies for the start of the new semester. I always loved this! In January, we begin a new semester and I would love to provide my students with fresh supplies. Having new pencils, supply pouches, and erasers is always a great way to motivate my kids. And, to make the day run smoother and more efficiently, two new electric pencil sharpeners would be FABULOUS!

So, help us SHARPEN our skills with fresh supplies for a fresh semester.
