This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a 4th grade class in a low-income/high poverty area. Many of our students don't have the basic necessities to come to school. At our school, we often give out vouchers for free school uniforms because parents cannot afford to purchase uniforms. We have given out book bags filled with supplies to the most needy students so that they can have their basic classroom needs met. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with a meaningful learning experience.
My Project
My students usually start the school year with no school supplies. I try to reach out to the community to help. This year we haven't been successful at all in getting these supplies. After the winter break it has been a challenge for my students to replenish their supplies.
This year my students really struggled to bring in the basics.
Each student will get pens, paper, and folders. These are the basic necessities to help my students continue learning this school year.
My students will be able to use the supplies in each course that I teach. My students are intrigued by learning and I want to make sure that they have everything that they need to learn.
