My Students

I work at a school district that serves a student community that is 90% Native American. They are respectful, motivated, and eager to learn. Despite all their daily obstacles they are resilient and strive for any learning opportunity. Although most of our families live below the poverty level, it does not damper their willingness to learn and do well at school.

My Project

A new listening center will help my students listen to stories while they are participating in guided reading rotations. A listening center will demonstrate fluency and accuracy to my third graders. This project will help students identify unknown words

A listening center will demonstrate how to read expression and dialogue.

A listening center helps a book come alive. Students are able to truly visualize the story as they follow along with their own copy. A listening center creates a multi-sensory experience for the children while they are engaged in reading. New listening center books would help my students engage in their reading, learn new vocabulary, and identify fluent reading!
